Verna Bell Morris passed away at her home March 10, 2025, at the age of 77 years 4 months 27 days. A potluck celebration of life is scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2025, at the family home.
Verna was born on October 14, 1947, in Bentonville, Arkansas, to Robert J. and Dessie F. (Henson) Cockrell.
She dedicated over 20 years of her life working for the State of Oklahoma as a Licensed Practical Nurse and Corrections Officer.
The biggest hat Verna wore was being “Nana.” She was a kind and strong woman who loved her family and friends deeply and, of course, her crows and Mama Kitty.
Verna was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Dessie Cockrell; her husband of 50 years, the love of her life, Albert L. Morris; her brother, Billy R. Henson; and her sister, Trena L. Cockrell.
Survivors include her three daughters, Billie J. Little of the home, Shawna McCormick and Shelia Myrick; her nine grandchildren and their children, Kim Piggee and husband, Patrick, and their children, Haidyn, Aubryna and Audryna; Skylar Mayo and her children, Lyric Boone, Gavin Burwell and Gunner Burwell; John Mayo II and his children, Liam Mayo and Ozzy Mayo; Sarah Ogden and her three children and one grandchild; Melinda Woolsey and her two children; Brandon Young and his son; Kera Kusik and her three children; Guy Beebe and wife, Lisa, and their children, Gary Beebe and wife, Ashley; and numerous other relatives and friends.
