A pair of county commissioner races developed during the three-day filing period for county and state offices.
McClain County Election Board Secretary Karen Hailey reported incumbent Glen Murray of Wayne filed for re-election for county commissioner district 1 in Wayne. He will be challenged for the seat by Wayne resident Terry Hillis.
Incumbent Terry Daniels for commissioner district No. 3 did not file for re-election.
However, a pair of Republicans, Joe Southern and Scott Carroll, filed and will square off for the seat in the primary election June 16.
McClain County Assessor Elizabeth Patrick, County Treasurer Michelle Williams and County Clerk Rebekah Couch all filed unopposed.
Several District judges in this area did not draw opponents including Leah Edwards of Lindsay, Jeff Virgin of Norman and Thad Balkman of Norman.
Long-time Associate District Judge Charles Gray did not seek re-election. Filing unopposed for his seat was Lori Puckett of Goldsby. She had previously served as the Assistant District Attorney and a Special Judge in McClain County.
District Attorney Jennifer Austin of Norman did not draw an opponent.
Both of the area’s state representatives, Cindy Roe and Jonathan Wilk drew opponents.
Running against Roe for District 42 will be Republican Kaity Keith of Purcell. Filing against Wilk was Mike Fullerton, a Republican from Newcastle, and Democrat Chris May of Noble.
The race for governor is loaded with candidates including Republicans Gentner Drummond, Charles McCall, Mike Mazzei, Chip Keating, Jennifer Domenico, Jake A. Merrick, Leisa Mitchell Haynes, Calup Anthony Taylor and Kenneth Sturgell.
Democrats tossing their hats into the ring include Cyndi Munson, Arya and Connie Johnson. Independents are Robert E. Brooks, Sr., Jerry Griffin and Orlando Lynn Bush.
Incumbent Fourth District Congressman Tom Cole will be challenged on the Republican side by Marcie Everhart and Democrats Mitchell Jacob, Kody Macaulay and Jeff Pixley.
