Trailer theft from B&H

Posted

A Washington man charged in McClain County District Court with two counts of knowingly concealing stolen property is free after posting $10,000 bond.

Jeremy L. Hutchinson was arrested and charged January 22.

The charges were filed after a former felony conviction.

According to an arrest affidavit, Hutchinson was fired from B&H Construction in Goldsby in July.

The firm’s owner, Ronnie Beller, called the McClain County Sheriff’s Department on January 22 after seeing Hutchinson pulling a trailer taken from the business.

A deputy got the license number and VIN for the trailer and drove to Hutchinson’s house where a pickup and trailer were parked in plain view.

When approached by the deputy, Hutchinson admitted the trailer belonged to B&H Construction, but denied stealing it.

He said he’d borrowed the trailer and was going to return it as soon as he unloaded the lumber that was on it.

After checking that the license and VIN numbers were a match, the deputy again spoke to Beller who reaffirmed the trailer was stolen, not borrowed.

Later that morning, Hutchinson returned the trailer, but not the Honda generator that had been bolted to the trailer.

Confronted by Beller about the generator, Hutchinson admitted he’d removed it and had it hidden in his garage.

Hutchinson later returned the generator to the company.
