Purcell freshman Matthew Swanner competed in the Class 4A State golf tournament May 11-12.

Golfers played 36 holes the first day and 18 holes the second day.

Swanner shot 82-83-81 for a three-round total of 246. He finished 49 out of 73 competitors.

“He played really well,” said Purcell head golf coach Mike Gowens. “He was just one or two holes away from the mid 70s each round. I’m very proud of him.”

Tuttle’s Bryce Freeman Heritage Hall’s Ben Lathrop were the low players, both shooting 207.

Heritage Hall won the team title with a score of 874.
