Tuesday wasn’t the day Greg Wheat’s number was up in Heaven.

Thanks to the work of first responders at the Brighton Ski Resort in Utah and skilled heart surgeons, Wheat survived a major heart attack while on the mountain.

Wheat told me he had 100 percent blockage.

First responders performed 15 minutes of CPR and shocked him seven times with a defibrillator.

He had to be medivaced from the mountain and went to the hospital for a stent procedure.

“By the grace of God, I walked out of that hospital Thursday evening,” Wheat said.

A question recently came up in a Bible study group I’m in. It was “Why were there so many miracles when Jesus was on the earth but there aren’t any now?”

The Purcell City Councilman and former pastor’s story might fit into the miracle category.

Intermediate School principal Tina Swayze and the fifth grade academic team had something to cheer about last Saturday at Dale.

This year’s fifth grade academic team made history for being the first fifth grade team to make it to the State Academic competition.

Not only did they make the field, they finished as State Runners-up.

Coached by Tammy Mackey, the team members include Jarrett Haynes, Augustine Williams, Asher Stone, Bentlee Nicklas, Ethan Guinn and Lane Montgomery.

They represented Purcell very well.
