Shirley Delois Smith was born November 5, 1942 in Walters, Okla., the middle of three children of Jim A. Smith and Frances Edna (Lewis) Smith. She was raised primarily in Lexington, graduating with the Bulldog Class of 1960.

Shirley took some college classes in Mesquite, Texas, before entering the work field. She worked for Yeager Wholesale in Oklahoma City before taking a job with Western Electric. She stayed with the company for many years and through many name changes, retiring from Lucient Technologies in Garland, Texas, after more than 40 years of dedicated service.

Shirley enjoyed traveling, and especially cruises, and she was fortunate to see much of the world. She enjoyed life, collected classic muscle cars and never missed an opportunity to hit a casino. Shirley cherished her dog “Baby”, and was a good friend to many. She will be dearly missed!

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim Smith and Frances Feuerborn, and her sister, Pearl Dean Johnson.

Shirley is survived by her  brother, Jimmy Smith and wife, Virginia, of Harrah; her longtime friend, Pauline Austin and husband, Tony, of Lexington and a host of other family and friends.
