Schools settling into A/B agenda

Posted

Purcell schools, with the exception of the junior high, are nearing the end of their first week of the A/B schedule .

It will run through Thanksgiving, according to Purcell Superintendent Dr. Sheli McAdoo.

The high school, intermediate and elementary schools are on the rotating schedule  while the junior high is all Distance Learning.

“The new COVID-19 numbers are out from the Oklahoma State Department of Health,” McAdoo said. “The numbers for McClain County have risen and in an abundance of caution we must react.

“It is always a difficult decision to transition to a different schedule, but it is apparent that a move to the rotating A/B schedule as outlined in our District Return to Learn Plan is warranted,” she said.

Students whose last name begins with the letter A through L will attend class on Monday and Tuesday.

Students whose last name begins with the letter M through Z will attend class on Thursday and Friday. There will be no one in the buildings on Wednesday for deep cleaning and teacher planning. All students will be on  Distance Learning.

All students will return to regular instruction November 30.

The junior high will remain on Distance Learning as previously communicated from November 9 to November 13 and then transition to rotating A/B schedule November 16 through November 20.

“Virtual students will not be impacted by these changes and will continue as usual,” the superintendent said. “Alternative Education and Mid-America Technology Center students will also continue with their regular class schedule.”

All activities and practices will continue as scheduled until further notice. Each building administrator will be reaching out to parents with further information and will address any questions you may have regarding the schedule.

Buses will run as usual and your student may ride on the days that they are designated to be in school.

We will provide meals for students on days they are in  Distance Learning.

Teachers will be sending additional information for instruction. We appreciate your patience as we continue to deal with the pandemic. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at mcadoos@purcellps.org.
