School going to CNG

In a special meeting last Thursday night, Purcell’s Board of Education voted to add compressed natural gas conversions to some of the district’s bus fleet.

School officials said this will be done through B&H Construction at no cost to the district.

“This will be for our route buses and anything over one ton we will look at,” superintendent Dr. Sheli McAdoo said.

The board voted for property insurance through the Oklahoma Schools Insurance Group for $329,548.

Board members approved out-of-state travel for Christie Goldston to attend the National Johnson-O’Malley Association conference in Las Vegas. Dr. McAdoo said this is funded by additional JOM funding and won’t come out of the school’s allocation.

The All Sports Booster Club, Band Booster Club, Cross Country and Mama Dragons were all sanctioned to raise funding by the board.

After an executive session, the board voted to hire paraprofessional Monica Luna for the elementary school and accepted the resignation of fourth grade teacher Megan Moreno.
