Sara Lynn (Pope) Shepard

Sara Lynn (Pope) Shepard, only 44, of Houston, Texas, despite her determination and valiant efforts to beat the metastasized breast cancer, died November 4, 2025.
Sara was born at Norman Regional Hospital on February 8, 1981, and grew up in Norman. She went to Adams Elementary for kindergarten and Monroe Elementary. She joined Girl Scout Troop 216, Carol Baylor Scout Leader, and eventually earned the Girl Scout Silver Award.
Sara played oboe starting at Whittier Middle School, West Mid High and Norman High School. Since there aren’t oboes in marching band, she also learned to play the flute. Always an excellent student, Sara took several advanced classes, including Latin, which especially pleased her dad.
Sara decided on Austin College in Sherman, Texas, where she earned her BA. She later earned her MLS at North Texas State University in Denton, Texas.
Sara was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ronald and Blanche Killgore and O.L. and Pauline Pope; aunt, Dess Morris and uncles, Bob Morris, Bob Karth, Ray Howard, Bob Bullock and Ron Killgore.
She is survived by her husband, Josh, and daughter, Vivian of the home; her parents, Gary and Maria Pope of Purcell; two sisters, Anna Young and husband, Brian, of Oklahoma City and Megan Broll and husband, Dylan, and their sons, Walter and Henry of Kansas City, Mo.; aunts and uncles, Don and Eloise Killgore, Sharon Karth, T.J. Killgore and wife, Connie Rush, Mrs. Ron (Joy) Killgore, Bess Bullock, Don and Teresa Pope, Karon Pope and cousins and other family and friends.
Funeral services are with the Morales Funeral Home in Houston, Texas. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, November 21, 2025 with remembrances starting at 1 p.m.
