A room at Rubys Inn & Restaurant reportedly rented by a Good Samaritan for a homeless person has been trashed.

Investigating Purcell Police Officer Jeffrey Hixon’s report said the front window of room number 165 had a hole in it the size of a beach ball.

Hixon said when he walked into the room he noticed a wooden chair right next to the window with the right arm broken off.

The report stated it appeared the chair had been thrown into the window damaging both.

Hixon said Carrie Fielder listed all the damages reporting the total damage to be $3,700

The air conditioning unit under the window was damaged and the front portion of the unit was pulled away. It was not in working order.

Among other damage included:

  • a mini ice machine
  • flat screen LG TV mounted on the wall had a crack in the middle of the screen
  • wooden night stand was pulled from the wall and was in several pieces
  • a large hole in the drywall
  • bathroom sink mirror completely shattered
  • all bed linens destroyed and carpet was damaged
  • wall lamp
  • soap dispenser
  • telephone
  • coffee pot
  • bathroom linens
  • picture frame and picture

A Rubys employee followed the suspect out of the room and down Green Avenue. Hixon contacted Orville Key about the incident and requested a warrant to be issued for malicious injury to property.
