Ronald Wayne Crowder went to live with his Savior on January 23, 2020. Memorial services were heldTuesday, January 28, at South Georgia Baptist Church in Amarillo, Texas, with Pastor Mike Martin officiating. Interment followed at the Llano Cemetery.
Ron was born in Greybull, Wyoming, in May of 1944 to Vera Williams Crowder and Robert Crowder while his father was serving in World War II. He graduated from Lexington High School in Lexington, Oklahoma, in 1962. He earned a bachelors degree from Amber University in 1989.
Ron was a Vietnam veteran who served in the U.S. Navy Reserve and the U.S. Air Force for 22 years. Upon retiring from the USAF, he continued working on national defense programs as a civilian engineer for Raytheon Company for 23 years.
He married Lois Berglan in Lexington, Oklahoma, on March 2, 1968. They raised two children together. Ron was raised in church but he had no personal relationship with Christ until he was 32 years old. At that time, he began leading his family to serve the Lord in churches in Colorado, Alaska, Florida and Texas.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Crowder of Greybull, Wyoming; his mother, Vera Brown of Lexington, Oklahoma; and his brother, Mike Brown of Purcell, Oklahoma.
Survivors include his wife of almost 52 years, Lois Crowder of Amarillo; daughter Pam Cavitt and husband, Wade, of Amarillo, Texas; son, Allen Crowder and wife, Kelly, of Schertz, Texas; and grandchildren, Chris, Austin, Abby and Zayden Cavitt and Chase and Luke Crowder. He will also be missed by in-laws, cousins, friends and fellow veterans.
In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made in his memory to jaars.org, mission22.org, worldvision.org, and awana.org. Ron desired that everyone who attends his services dress casually because he hated wearing a tie.
