The Rocky Clarke Invitational Basketball Tournament tips off Thursday at the Warrior Event Center.

Games begin at 10 a.m. Thursday when the North Rock Creek and Casady girls square off.

The Washington girls play Sulphur at 5:40 p.m. and the boys play Cache at 6:55 p.m.

Comanche

The Washington girls defeated Comanche last week, 54-36.

Breanna Lindert led the team in scoring with 25 points.

Preslee Johnson scored 10 points in the win.

Washington’s fast start to begin the game set the tone for the rest of the night.

They outscored Comanche 19-5 in the first quarter.

The Warriors were dominant in the paint, scoring 42 of their points on the inside.

“We got off to a quick start but let our foot off the pedal,” head coach Kale Simon said. “We didn’t have a great shooting night but got some better shots in the paint.”

Washington is 11-1 and ranked No. 1 in Class 3A.

Boys

The boys defeated Comanche 70-45.

Comanche managed to keep the game close throughout much of the contest and it was an eight-point ball game as it entered the final quarter.

“We didn’t shoot the ball very well but it was our fifth game in eight days,” head coach Trevor Smith said. “Our legs were a little tired.”

Washington tightened the screws on defense in the fourth and blew the game open, out-scoring Comanche 20-3.

“They hung around the majority of the game,” Smith said. “We turned them over a ton and got points in transition.”

With the win, the Warriors are 9-3 this season and ranked No. 10 in Class 3A.
