Robert Dale York died May 21, 2025, in Noble, Oklahoma, at the age of 69 years 1 month 2 days. A private family committal is scheduled for a later date, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service, Inc.
Robert was born April 19, 1956, in Purcell, Oklahoma to R.M “Dobb” and Norma Jean (Suchy) York.
He was raised in Purcell, graduating from Purcell High School in 1974. During his high school years, Robert developed a loved for basketball and was a member of the 1974 State Championship team.
Robert continued his education on a basketball scholarship, first at Connor’s State College earning his associate’s degree in 1976. Then onto Southwestern Oklahoma State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in 1978. After graduation, Robert began working for the railroad and later worked in construction as well as a concrete truck driver.
From a young age, Robert nurtured a profound appreciation for the great outdoors, bolstered by the fond memories shared with his beloved PaPa, Alva Suchy. Hunting and fishing became cherished pursuits that brought him joy and tranquility, allowing him to connect with nature and those he held dear.
Robert was a man whose passion for sports, love for family, and respect for nature left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know him. His spirit will continue to inspire, and his memory will forever remain etched in our hearts.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, R.M. “Dobb” and Norma Jean York; his grandparents, Alva and Beatrice Suchy; and Christina York.
Survivors include his stepmother, Jean York; his siblings, Elaine York and Jeanne Dover and husband, Ronnie; his niece, Lorie Pugh and husband, Jeff; his nephews, Bob Walde and wife, Jennifer White, Chad Dover and wife, Kristi, and Kyle Dover and wife, Kristina; and numerous other relatives and friends.
