Purcell Lake Day debuts June 7 with family fun, trails and trucks

Posted

The City of Purcell Parks & Recreation Department, in partnership with the Heart of Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce and the Purcell Outreach Committee, announces the debut of a brand-new event: Purcell Lake Day—a celebration of trails, trucks and community spirit!

Taking place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, this exciting new event combines the best elements of two long-standing community favorites, Walk the Trail Day and Touch-A-Truck, into one unforgettable experience at beautiful Purcell Lake.

Purcell Lake Day will showcase the lake’s paved multi-use trails and outdoor recreation opportunities, while also offering families the chance to see, touch, and explore a variety of unique vehicles. From hiking and biking to honking and climbing, this event has something for everyone!

The date coincides with several national celebrations, including:

• National Trails Day (American Hiking Society)

• National Play Outside Day

• Butterfly Education Awareness Day

• America the Beautiful Week

• National Oklahoma Day

• Oklahoma Free Fishing Weekend

Interested in sponsoring, participating or bringing a vehicle to the event? Visit https://purcellok.gov/325/Purcell-Lake-Day-2025 for more details and to get involved.

Come enjoy the sights, sounds, and scenic beauty of Purcell Lake—and help us make the first-ever Purcell Lake Day one to remember!

This story has been updated to reflect the change in date due to wet conditions at the lake.
