Purcell beats Central Marlow

Purcell pocketed a pair of victories over Central Marlow last week in the Sulphur/Roff Tournament but suffered five losses including regular season games against Latta and Bethel.

Monday the Dragons came up on the short end of an 18-3 contest with Mustang and were defeated by Wayne 25-9 in a three-way at home.

In their two wins over Central Marlow the Dragons had 21 combined hits in 11-7 and 10-3 victories.

In the first game Missy Nimsey went yard in both the third and fifth frames and finished the game with five RBIs.

In that fifth inning when the Dragons pushed across five runs, Savanna Edwards, Brook Fleming and Nimsey had RBIs.

Hannah Buchanan had a solo home run in the first to start the scoring. That shot was one of two round trippers she had in the game.

Fleming was 3-4 at the plate including a double to go with her home run.

Kaylee Stephens had two hits in three trips to the plate and Alie Holler-Willess was 2-2.

Kelly Anderson picked up the victory in the circle for the Dragons with relief from Madison Veach.

In the second game of the day in the tournament, Purcell pinned a 10-3 defeat on the Lady Bronchos.

Fleming was 3-4 with three RBIs including a home run, a double and a triple.

In the third inning when Purcell scored four runs, Kaylee Evans, Holler-Willess and Payci Constant and Stephens all had RBIs.

Edwards had a double in the game and both Holler-Willess and Stephens finished with a pair of RBIs.

Winning pitcher Madison Veach helped her own cause going 1-3 at the plate with and RBI.

The Dragons were scheduled to travel to Blanchard Tuesday facing the Lady Lions and Bethel.

This Thursday and Friday Purcell will play in the Washington Tournament. Next Monday Purcell will travel to Deer Creek for a 5 p.m. game.
