Purcell’s Board of Education rehired all the school’s administrators Monday night in its regular monthly meeting.
The board came out of executive session and rehired elementary principal Cindy Stone, intermediate principal Tina Swayze, junior high principal Carol Testa and high school principal Jason Sanders.
In her comments as superintendent Dr. Sheli McAdoo spoke to the board about the bus breaking down in Branson, Mo., that was transporting the choir for a competition.
Transportation department professionals Janelle and Matt Maral drove to Branson and made the necessary repairs on the bus to bring the students safely back to Purcell.
“We talked about the parent-teacher conferences and the end of basketball season,” Dr. McAdoo said. “We are proud of our players and coaches.”
Dr. McAdoo spoke about spring sports and spring break.
“If people are traveling to where there are a measles outbreak they should be cautious,” she said.
Dr. McAdoo said the district was able to bring in $120,000 for teachers that applied to be a part of the Oklahoma Teacher Empowerment Program.
Steve Clary gave a presentation about the school’s archery program and its success with several students making it to high levels in state competition.
The board also heard presentations from the architect and construction manager about the school’s FEMA project.
Board members voted to engage Bledsoe, Hewett and Gullekson to conduct the district’s annual audit and voted to hire a new provider for the school’s cabling system.
