Jayden Polk won the All-State All-Star Cross Country track meet at Chickasha in Class 3A with a time of 12:06 over the two-mile course October 14.
“A remarkably close finish between Polk and two other runners made for a great race,” head coach Mike Savage said. “Jayden led from the start like he normally does but these two runners came up behind him and he couldn’t hear them because of the crowd noise.
“They had momentum and when he felt them on his heels he held them off for the win,” Savage said.
On the season, Polk had three number one finishes and two runner-up finishes.
Alyssa MacArthur was the low Purcell girl with a time of 10:39 over the 1.5 mile course for a 28th place finish.
“It was really a pleasure to see these athletes better their times throughout the year,” Savage said.
