Despite getting 16 points from Drew Dierking Lexington came up on the short end of a 78-55 basketball contest at Pauls Valley November 30.

Heath Winterton added nine points with coach Derek Clark getting scoring from 10 different Bulldogs.

“Giving up offensive rebounds and turning the ball over hurt us big time,” Clark said.

“They had way more shot attempts from those opportunities,” the coach said.

Making matters worse was the fact that junior leader Ezra Faulkenberry missed the game due to illness.

The Bulldogs hosted Lindsay Tuesday night and will host Davis next Tuesday night.

Girls

Despite a better start and a more consistent effort from the Lady Bulldogs, Lexington came up short to Pauls Valley 63-36 on November 30.

“We came out more ready to play and I was happy with our consistent energy levels against Pauls Valley. I feel like we’re just one person away from doing really well,” head coach Alec Bryen said.

Junior Rylee Beason led the team with 10 points. Abby Sample added six while Leslie Barber, Landri Bean, Kiely Givens and Maddie Manuel each had four.

The kicker for Lexington was the lopsided offensive rebounds.

“It’s tough to beat anyone when they’re getting more shot attempts than you,” Bryen said.

Barber, a proven leader for the Lady Bulldogs, had a career game, according to the head coach.

“Leslie just understands her role and her strengths and weaknesses. She’s fantastic at fulfulling her role.”

The Lindsay Leopardettes were scheduled to come to town on Tuesday.

“I think we are similar athletically and size-wise. They’ll press us, as most opponents have, and we’ll have to earn the win,” Bryen said.

After a week off, Lexington will host Davis on December 14.
