The McClain County Sheriff’s Office requested the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred in Goldsby on October 18.

The evening before, McClain County dispatchers received a 911 call from a resident regarding a domestic disturbance/stalking incident.

The female victim told dispatchers she was being followed by a driver, identified as 40-year-old Cahlan Bowman.

While Bowman was following the female driver, he caused her vehicle to crash near Southeast 12th Street and East Redbud Road in Washington.

When deputies arrived on scene, they made contact with Bowman, who brandished a firearm, leading to an officer-involved shooting.

Bowman then fled the scene on foot. Law enforcement was able to track Bowman down a quarter of a mile from where the shooting occurred in a rural area off East Redbud Road.

Law enforcement personnel made contact with Bowman and used negotiation techniques for several hours.

Around 7:30 a.m., on October 18  Bowman was located deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. There were no other injuries during the altercation.

The investigation is  ongoing.

The OSBI appreciates the McClain County Sheriff’s Office, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Oklahoma City Police Department, Chickasaw Lighthorse Police Department and the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office for their continued assistance with the investigation.
