One person was killed in a grinding two-vehicle traffic accident at the intersection of SH 59 and SH 24 Monday afternoon.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said Mary Ann Chappell, 76, no address provided, died in the accident.

Investigating Trooper Shayne Ballard said Chappell was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox.

Ballard said Chappell’s vehicle was struck by a 2015 Dodge Ram driven by a juvenile (name withheld) white male, 17, of Blanchard.

The pickup ended up on its top after the collision.

The driver was transported to Purcell Municipal Hospital where he was treated and released.

One of the two 17-year-old female passengers in the pickup was not injured. The other was transported to PMH by Wadley’s EMS, treated and released.

Ballard said the pickup was eastbound on 59 and ran a stop sign colliding with the Equinox that was southbound on 24.

Medical Examiner John Miller said Chappell died from head and trunk internal injuries.

Ballard was assisted by Trooper Conway, Trooper Brian Ozment, Trooper Ellis, the McClain County Sheriff’s Department, Purcell Fire Department, Wayne Fire Department and the Payne Fire Department.
