A Norman man was killed and a Washington man injured in a two-vehicle accident six miles west of Perkins in Payne County January 14.
Larry D. Birdine III, 19, of Norman was killed when the 2012 Ford Fusion (Vehicle 1) he was driving collided with a 2024 Ram PK (Vehicle 2), driven by Steven Vaughn, 41, of Washington.
Vaughn was transported to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City where he was treated and released with an arm injury.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported Birdine was pinned in his vehicle for approximately two hours before being extricated by the Perkins Fire Department using the Hurst Tool. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation OHP Trooper Sloan said the Birdine vehicle was east bound on OK-33 and the Vaughn vehicle was west bound on OK-33.
“Vehicle 1 went left of center and impacted vehicle 2,” Sloan said in his report.
