No more years for Stitt

Instead of the chant “four more years” for Kevin Stitt, it should be “no more years.”

We had questions about him from the first time we heard him speak at the Oklahoma Press Association meeting in the summer of 2018.

You could almost tell that he was not going to be a good governor if elected.

Turns out he was elected and he’s not panned out for Oklahoma.

Instead of not being a good governor he has been involved in shady deals and practiced in the good old boy system that has plagued politicians for years and years.

A congratulatory shout out to a retiring Kevin Rhoads.

His retirement party is October 4 at Purcell City Hall from 1-3 p.m.

The Ada native started as a police officer here in August of 1990.

He was promoted to corporal and later sergeant and served as interim police chief in 2003.

In addition to his duties on patrol, Rhoads served as sergeant of investigations.

Since January of 2007 Rhoads has been the Purcell Emergency Management Director.

Happy retirement.

I had a person tell me in our office the other day that school vouchers will not hurt public education in Oklahoma.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

I personally don’t have a problem with people sending their children to private schools.

Perfectly within their parental rights.

I just don’t want for the rest of us to have to pay for it.

Those who send their children to private schools can well afford it.

Leave the public tax dollars to the public schools where it is supposed to be.

Private schools have a place in education. But they should not be subsidized with public funding.

But that’s exactly what Ryan Walters wants to do.

Anyone who works in public education should get out and vote against him.
