I enjoyed the unusually mild and wet August but I guess I didn’t enjoy it enough.
Not enough to endure almost our whole fall to summer-like temperatures and the lack of measurable rainfall.
I’m no weather man, but the guess here is we are going to get robbed of beautiful fall weather (with the exception of last Sunday) and go from hot to freezing cold almost over night.
And to say we need rain is not newsworthy.
We were only to June, albeit late in the sixth month, when we eclipsed the annual rainfall total of 36.52. Who would have envisioned the drought conditions we are now experiencing?
It was June 27 when we recorded nearly two inches, stretching our measured rainfall for the year to 37.14”.
We received 3.65” of rain in August. August!
When our usually wet month of September rolled around we recorded a grand total of .6”!
And so far in October it’s been pretty much dry as a bone with no measurable rainfall recorded as of the time of this writing.
However, rain is predicted for Thursday, Friday and Saturday, just in time for weekend football games.
But at this point, beggers can’t be choosers.
The chance for thunderstorms goes from just over 30 percent on Thursday to nearly 100 percent on Friday and nearly 80 percent on Saturday.

The lack of Windstream internet last Thursday afternoon handcuffed business.
Make that not just business, but everything.
Credit cards couldn’t be run. There was no telephone service, no television, no nothing.
It was a massive outage that we were unable to track down the cause or location due to being unable to contact anyone at Windstream.
