RX Take Back Program
The Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics (OBN) started the RX Take Back Program in 2011.
The purpose of the program is to provide citizens and employees with a safe method to destroy unwanted and expired medication.
From the year 2011 to 2021 OBN has collected a total of 230,148 pounds in unwanted pills alone. In the year of 2011 there were 105 RX disposal boxes. Currently there are approximately 183 boxes in the state of Oklahoma.
The Purcell Police Department has a take back box located in the front lobby. Take back boxes cannot be used to dispose of needles, syringes, liquids, chemicals, or inhalers.
For more information on the disposal of these items, please refer to the OBN website.
