New to Wayne

Bulldogs add 11 to faculty

When the bell ushers in the 2022-23 school year at Wayne today (Thursday), there will be 11 new faces among the faculty.

They are Julia Arnold, Malachi Blaxton, Deanna Caler, Rachel Cash, Richard Gray, Nikki Herrin, Becky Hewitt, Megan Moreno, McKenzie Smith, Kari Westmoreland and Jessica Wilson.

Arnold teaches pre-kindergarten. She is a graduate of Oklahoma State University and previously taught first and third grades.

She is married to Tyler Arnold.

Blaxton is the high school principal. He attended colleges in Missouri and Oklahoma, including Missouri Southern, Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Northeastern Oklahoma State and Northwest Missouri. Previously he was assistant superintendent at Green Country Technology Center.

Caler teaches special education at the high school. She is a graduate of Carnegie High School and SWOSU and previously taught severe and profound disabled students at Yukon High School.

She and her husband, Zachary, have two children – Delilah and Theodore.

Cash is a special services teacher for pre-K through fifth grade. She is a graduate of Pauls Valley High School and East Central University. Previously she taught pre-K for Epic Charter Schools.

Gray came out of retirement to teach American history and sociology at the high school. He is a graduate of Purcell High School and Oklahoma Baptist University. He previously taught at Elmore City.

Herrin teaches English to high school juniors and seniors. She graduated from Wayne High School and ECU. She previously taught at Norman North High School.

Hewitt teaches Algebra I and II, as well as geometry. She is a graduate of Southeastern Oklahoma State University and previously taught math at Lindsay Middle School. She and Jared Feroli have five children – Avery, Ellie, Liam, Drew and Kate.

Moreno teaches special education for grades six through eight at the middle school. She  graduated from Rush Springs High School, Cameron University and University of Central Oklahoma. She previously taught fourth grade at Purcell. She and her husband, Dustin, have three children – Maddie, Mason and Major.

Smith teaches art and eighth grade English. She is a graduate of Wayne High School and University of Sciences and Arts of Oklahoma.

Westmoreland teaches band and music. She is a graduate of Purcell High School and USAO and previously taught at Wewoka. She and her husband, Michael, have a son, Nicholas.

Wilson is a paraprofessional in special education. She is a graduate of Bethany Christian Academy. She and her husband, Brent, have two children – Hudson and Harper.
