Anthony Porter was recently sworn in by Sheriff Landy Offolter as the county’s newest Sheriff’s Deputy.
Porter has been in law enforcement since 1993. He was certified in 1994.
Porter, who has lived in Texas and Oklahoma most of his life, now calls Purcell home.
“I love serving my community and helping others,” Porter said of his reason to become a deputy.
Porter has two adult children. His son and his wife live in Oklahoma City and his daughter and her husband live here in Purcell.
He has three granddaughters and one grandson.
Porter said the most rewarding part of his job is, “having someone say that I changed their lives by talking them through their problems.
“Since the loss of my younger sister to suicide, I’ve been known to talk to someone for hours to change their mind and get them the help they are wanting and needing,” Porter said of the more challenging parts of his job.
