A reader alerted The Purcell Register to yet another phone scam.
She answered her phone Tuesday morning and a voice said something had happened to her social security number and she would not be able to get her social security check unless she called back a specific number.
Our reader was sharp enough not to call the number but said her elderly mother would have written it down and promptly called it.
The caller ID showed National Heroes and the number was a 915 area code.
She called the police.
Citizens beware.
