Purcell City officials have announced a change in the lobby hours for city hall, located at 230 W. Main.
Previously, the lobby hours were 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Interim City Manager Bobby Elmore said the new hours, effective immediately, will be 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. However, employees will remain in the building during the 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. hour for customer service by telephone.
“This way they will have the last hour of the day to close out the end of day payments,” Elmore said. “That way the treasurer can reconcile them.
“They need two people to close everything and that takes about an hour without a bunch of interruptions. This will make things more efficient,” he said.
“This way the council will get more accurate numbers during reports,” Elmore said.
Elmore also reported that as of Friday, March 28, the credit card machines were back up for online payments.
