Lexington Public Schools is excited to announce the addition of two outstanding leaders to Bulldog Basketball.
Chad Walker will be the head boys basketball coach and Amanda Winter will be head girls basketball coach.
Winter, who was Amanda Graddy when she played for the Lady Bulldogs, is excited to be back at Lexington.
Coach Walker brings nearly three decades of experience and a track record of postseason success, along with a strong belief that successful programs are built on fundamentals, relationships and daily standards.
He is passionate about helping student-athletes reach their full potential both on and off the court.
“Basketball is the classroom, and life skills are the curriculum,” Walker said. “If we focus on effort, attitude, and fundamentals, the results will follow. I want our program to be something the entire community takes pride in.”
Players, parents and the community can expect a disciplined, organized program built on accountability, skill development, and strong communication.
Coach Walker’s long-term vision includes building alignment from youth programs through high school to create sustained success.
Athletic Director Wes Moore shared his excitement about the hire.
“Welcome, Coach Chad Walker. With three decades of experience and a track record of postseason success, your arrival as head basketball coach ignites our excitement for the future of the program,” Moore said.
“Your expertise and dedication will inspire our players to reach new heights, and together, we will build a legacy of excellence on the court. Let’s make this season unforgettable.”
Coach Amanda Winter, a Lexington graduate and former standout Lady Bulldog, returns home to lead the girls program.
She brings a strong passion for mentorship and player development, along with a deep connection to the school and community.
“Basketball is the platform, but my goal is to help players grow as individuals,” Winter said. “I want our program to be a place where athletes feel supported, challenged and excited to improve every day.”
Coach Winter emphasizes relationships, accountability, and creating an environment where players can thrive both on the court and in the classroom. Her return marks a special opportunity to invest in the next generation of Lady Bulldogs.
Moore also welcomed Winter back to Lexington.
“Welcome back, Amanda,” Moore said. “Your return to the Lexington Lady Bulldogs is a homecoming we’ve eagerly anticipated.
“With your passion, leadership and unwavering commitment, we’re ready to soar to new heights together. Let’s create a legacy of excellence on and off the court,” Moore concluded.
Superintendent Chad Hall believes the combination of experience and long-term vision makes this an exciting moment for Lexington basketball.
“This is a unique opportunity to put a high value on experience while also investing in the future,” said Hall. “I believe the pieces are in place for future editions of ‘Dawg Ball to be special.”
Hall also highlighted the collaborative structure planned for both programs.
“Maximizing all aspects of why these candidates were chosen, Coach Walker will also initially lend his years of knowledge to the girls program by serving as the designated mentor for Coach Winter.
With aligned resources added to raw excitement, the long-term success of both programs is in focus,” Hall said.
Together, Coaches Walker and Winter will lead Lexington basketball with a shared commitment to developing student-athletes, building strong and representing Lexington with pride on and off the court.
