Funeral services for Mickey Holden, 86, of Purcell will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, August 5, 2022 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Purcell. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.

Mrs. Holden passed away Sunday, July 31, 2022.

Golda Montez Woods was born September 10, 1935 in Lubbock, Texas, the baby of seven children born to Lester W. Woods and Beulah Hortense (Mitchell) Woods. She was raised in Lubbock, Texas, and attended school there.

By chance, she met a young man named C.B. Holden. He was to meet her friend at the Texas Tech Football Stadium under the Double T. Her friend never showed, but Mickey did, and the rest as they say is history. They fell in love and were married on June 1, 1952 in Lubbock, and together they raised two sons, Rodney and Brent.

Because of C.B.’s work in the oil industry, they traveled much, living in various places.  By 1974 they had settled in Purcell and have called it home ever since. Mickey was an extraordinary homemaker, and worked tirelessly caring and providing for her boys. When they were grown, she worked some odd jobs just to stay busy. She was also a big part in helping her son build Brent’s BBQ in Noble and worked there for a number of years.

She was a woman of great faith and a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Purcell. Mickey served the Lord wherever needed, serving as a Trustee and several committees. She cooked for Rotary, was a member of the Okeyha Mother’s Club and Gladiolas Garden Club, and delivered meals for the Purcell Senior Citizens. Mickey had a true servant’s heart, a giving spirit, and genuinely loved others. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be dearly missed!

She was preceded in death by her husband, C.B. Holden; her parents, Lester and Beulah Woods and siblings, C.R. Woods, Wallace “Cotton” Woods, Hazel Mabry, Harold Woods and Laura Ehring.

Mickey is survived by her boys, Rodney Holden of Purcell and Brent Holden and wife, Jaquita, of Slaughtersville; sister, Joyce Martin of Eulis, Texas;  extended daughter and granddaughter, Brenda Martin of Oklahoma City and Penny Suttles of Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Kevin, Jerry, Curtis, Alicia, Crystal and Amber; great-grandchildren, Matt, Cheyanne, Syghler, Maria, Jessie, Mason, Tasha, Gentry, Geremiah, Elijah, Memphis, Lundon, Braxton, Oxton, Gabriel, Brooklyn, Trinity, Corbyn, Zach, Ryan, Megan and Greyson;  great-great-grandchildren, Lydia, Sterling, Brody, Savanna, Aston and Baby Cline; several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.
