Funeral services for Michael Lynn Cheatwood, 55, of Purcell will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 5, 2021 at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
Mr. Cheatwood passed away unexpectedly Monday, November 1, 2021.
Michael was born May 29, 1966 in Purcell to Clint and Nellie Ann (Gentry) Cheatwood. He was raised southwest of Purcell on a dairy farm, and attended Wayne Schools, graduating with the Bulldog Class of 1985.
Soon after, he married his childhood friend, Janet Gray. The two were married on June 2, 1990 in Wayne, and made their home in Purcell, where they raised two sons, Casey and Alex.
Michael worked for G & M Tank in Purcell as a truck driver and welder for many years. He started his own company, Bar C Industries, and operated it for nearly a decade. He returned to G & M Tank, spending a total of 20 years of dedicated service.
When he wasn’t working, Michael was probably fishing. Michael cherished Janet, his boys, and was never happier than the day he became a Papa. He cheered hard and was their biggest fan, and very rarely missed a game or an activity.
More recently, he became somewhat of a gamer, playing video games with his grandbabies. He was a fun loving, good-hearted, family-oriented man; a wonderful husband and father; grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be dearly missed!
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clint Cheatwood and Nellie Ann Cheatwood and sister, Charla Nicole Cheatwood.
Michael is survived by his wife, Janet; his boys, Casey Cheatwood and wife, Madison, and Alex Cheatwood and wife, Duncan, all of Purcell; brother, Paul Cheatwood and wife, Julie, of Purcell; sisters, Amanda Hopkins of Noble, Rebecca Mott and husband, Daniel Jr., of New York and Angela Hines and husband, Jessie, of Paoli; his pride and joy, grandchildren, Cora and Ryan and a host of other family and friends.
