A large grass fire at the Royal Vista Ranch on SH 59 just west of Mid-America Technology Center broke out just before 3:30 p.m. October 15, it started from a welder.
Tinder dry conditions and an easterly wind contributed to the blaze that burned about eight acres of pasture land. No structures were destroyed and there was no loss of livestock, according to Wayne Fire Chief Scott Thrash.
Firefighters from Wayne and Purcell battled the blaze.
