Graveside services for Mary Ruth Dover, 91, of Purcell will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at the Washington Cemetery. Services will be under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home of Purcell.
Mrs. Dover passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, April 2, 2026.
Mary was the first of ten children born to Jasper and Elsie Andrews on January 12, 1935 in Washington, Okla., in a half house.
Her dad taught her all about farming, and every time he went outside to work, he would say, “Come on, sis, let’s get to work.” Her brother Bill said she was the best tractor driver in the country.
Her knowledge of farming would come in handy when she married the love of her life, Joe Dover, with whom she continued the farming tradition on and off throughout the years. Joe and Mary were married for 68 years, and they had a son, Larry Dover, whom she adored.
She worked many different jobs through the years, but her most precious job was taking care of Larry and Joe, which she went above and beyond for. During her retirement years, she enjoyed going to bluegrass festivals, gardening and visiting with her friends and family who called daily, and she enjoyed those conversations even more later in life. Mary will be dearly missed by all those who treasured those talks.
There was no bigger fan of the OKC Thunder than Mary Dover. She knew every player and loved wearing her Thunder gear. And no matter how late the game started, she stayed up to the very end cheering on her team. She will be missed, but never forgotten.
She was preceded in death by her son, Larry Dover; husband, Joe Dover; parents, Jasper and Elsie Andrews and siblings, Audrey Nelson, Norma Blair, Lem Andrews, Luke Andrews, Junior Andrews, Lois Cox, Carolyn Blubaugh and Jim Andrews.
She is survived by her brother, Bill Andrews of Goldsby and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews, too numerous to count.
