Funeral services for Marion Roberta (Allen) Ward, 93, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 6, 2025 at the Lexington United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at the Corbett Cemetery under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ward, born June 5, 1932, passed away on October 31, 2025 in Norman, Okla.
Born to Ronald and Mida Allen, Marion and twin brother Charles, the youngest of eight children, started their life on a dairy farm in Wagoner, Okla.
She graduated from Wagoner High School in 1950 and went on to attend Oklahoma A&M University. She was a member of Kappa Delta Pi Honors Society for Education and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics in 1954.
Married at age 22, Marion traveled across the U.S. as an Air Force officer’s wife and lived in states including Alaska, California, Georgia, Maine, Ohio, Illinois, Texas and Virginia She enjoyed touring international locations with her friends and family, such as Germany, Luxembourg, Panama and England. Marion took pleasure in cultural experiences and was an avid sports fan, particularly the OKC Thunder and OSU Cowboys.
She gave back to the communities she lived in, notably receiving a commendation for over 1,000 hours of service as a coordinator of Family Services Center at Scott Air Force Base. She also volunteered as a Girl Scout leader. She was an advocate for local and national charities and donated to various non-profit organizations.
Marion worked as a third-grade teacher in Maine, Alaska, and California, as well as a clerk in the Payne County Clerk’s Office. Her faith was deeply important to her, and she served as an active member of the Lexington United Methodist church for over 30 years, participating in altar committee, administration, and Bible study.
In 1986, Marion married Troy Alonzo and they retired to Corbett, Okla., to build their family farm and run a cow-calf operation. She was an avid lover of animals, from their cows and horses to their work dogs, but especially her cats. Marion enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, traveling the state, and relaxing in the peaceful life she and her husband created together.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ronald Sr. and Mida; husband, Troy Alonzo; brothers, Ronald Jr. and Charles, and sisters, Elizabeth “Betty”, Mary Jo, Barbara Jean, Alice and Lorna.
She is survived by her son, Troy Allen and his wife, Ana; her daughter, Mary and her husband, Paul; her grandchildren, Ian, Rachel, Andrew, Emily and Julie; her great-grandchildren, Hase, Miles and Alice; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Donations may be made to the Lexington United Methodist Church food bank, the Oklahoma Humane Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
