Mrs. Huddleston passed away Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Norman Regional Hospital.
Malinda Chloe Bishop was born February 15, 1942 in Tahlequah, Okla., the older of two children of Benjamin J. Bishop and Virginia Dare (Anderson) Bishop.
She was raised in Purcell and attended Purcell Schools, before enrolling at Oklahoma State University. By chance, she met a young man named Dale Huddleston. Malinda was working at the popcorn stand at the movie theater, when a mutual friend introduced Dale. He asked her if he could walk her home, and the rest as they say is history.
Malinda married Dale on January 29, 1960 in Purcell, and they began their life as a couple. Together they raised three children, daughter Debbie and sons, David and Kevin. They first made their home in Moore, lived in Denver, Colorado, and in Georgia. Malinda worked as a Vet Tech, a substitute teacher and as a candy striper for a time. Her greatest joy was her family, and she cherished being a homemaker above all else.
Malinda was a talented musician; a classically trained pianist and she had the most beautiful voice. She traveled all over the United States and Europe with the Baptist Women’s Choir. She was a gifted seamstress, and shared her many talents with her family and friends. She enjoyed square dancing, was an excellent cook and will forever be remembered for her Buttermilk Pie.
Malinda was a woman of great faith and served the Lord whenever and wherever she could. She was a wonderful wife and mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and a true friend to many. She will be dearly missed!
She was preceded in death by her son, David Huddleston; her parents, Ben and Virginia Bishop and her brother, Michael Bishop.
Malinda is survived by her loving husband, Dale Huddleston; daughter, Debbie Roberts (Tony) of Martin, Ga.; son, Kevin Huddleston (Miranda) of Deerfield, Wisc.; her pride and joy, grandchildren, Yago (Hailey), Santhda, Devin (Amanda), Stephen (Kate), Adam (Jordan), Ryan, Scott, Emmeline and Joe; great-grandchildren, Trinity “T”, Ellie, Maddie, Daylon, Colson, Wesley, Jayson, Beverly and Riley; and a host of other family and friends.
