Main StreetScape to gear up

Posted

Officials with Rudy Construction held their second weekly meeting about StreetScape at Purcell City Hall Tuesday with some news that really matters to businesses on the north side of Main Street.

On Friday they will begin pouring curb and gutter concrete from both the east end of the project and from the west end of the project.

Estimates are they can pour 300 feet per day.

The more important part of the project for businesses affected on the north side of the street is the tearing out and pouring of concrete up next to the buildings.

In about two weeks that part of the Main StreetScape will begin where businesses will not have access to their front doors for a three-day period.

Project administrators report they will give businesses 48 hours of notice before their front is inaccessible.

They report after the sidewalk is taken out they will pour the new sidewalk very early in the morning with 24 hours needed for it to dry before it can support traffic.

One more specific part of Tuesday’s meeting was the closing dates of the alley between Main and Washington just off second street.

Electric Department Supervisor Trey Phillips said the alley would be closed June 16 and 17 for electrical upgrades.

Phillips said on the 16th the east side of Second would be affected and on the 17th it will be the west side of Second.

He said it should be for only 1/2 day with work beginning at 8 a.m.
