Graveside Funeral Services for Louise A. Gordon, 78, of Purcell were held Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell. Services were under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.

Mrs. Gordon passed away Monday, May 11, 2020.

Louise was born May 7, 1942 in Hamilton, Texas, the fourth of six children born to Hilbert Perry Askins and Ruth Belle (Winters) Askins. She was raised primarily in Post, Texas, where she attended school.

Louise’s life changed forever when she met a young man named Bobby Paul Gordon. She was working as a waitress and he would come in for coffee. As chance would have it, one night while dragging Main Street, Louise stepped in front of his car, and the rest is history. They were madly in love and not too long after, on May 15, 1960, they were married.

Bob followed his heart and surrendered to the ministry, and Louise followed hers and partnered with him. They Pastored churches in Texas and in Oklahoma for many years. Together they raised three children, son, Randy and daughters, Vickie and Debbie. In 1986, they settled in Purcell to be closer to their grandchildren.

Louise worked for a time for First National Bank in Purcell, retiring as an Administrative Assistant. She stayed busy in retirement, tending to her flower garden, and working in the Church nursery. She was an avid shopper and she loved watching the QVC Channel.

Her greatest joy and the reason she lived was her family; and she cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a woman of great faith; an active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Purcell, a wonderful mother and grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be dearly missed!

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob P. Gordon; her parents, Hilbert and Ruth Belle Askins and siblings, Nancy Johnson, Dilbert Askins and Gilbert Askins.

Louise is survived by her children, Randy Gordon of Purcell, Debbie McLain and husband, David, of Purcell and Vickie Gee and husband, Bobby, of Purcell; brother, Bucky Askins and wife, Leona, of Coolidge, Ariz.; sister, Ruth Buckendorff and husband, Dave, of Redmond, Ore.; eight grandchildren, Micah Gee and wife, Emma, of Edmond, Alex Gee of Norman, Micaela Mitchell and husband, Justin, of Edmond, Morgan Stinson and husband, Caleb, of Guthrie, Joshua Gordon and wife, Jana, of Oklahoma City, Jacob McLain and wife, Ashly, of Purcell, Kelsey Jones and husband, Caleb, of Tulsa and Carson McLain and wife, Erin, of Weatherford; eight great-grandchildren, Bennett, Raegan, Elliott, Remi, John, Kaci, John, James and one on the way, Rhett, and a host of other family and friends.
