There was an unusual amount of interest in voting for this presidential election.

Over 3,000 McClain residents voted in-person absentee at the McClain County Community Center on Hardcastle Blvd.

That’s just over 10 percent of the registered voters in the county.

People waited in line for two hours and longer Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

McClain County Election Board Secretary Karen Haley reported lines were even longer on Saturday.

On election day, lines were longer than ever at local polling precincts.

Voters turned out in record numbers in numerous states to vote early.

It’s curious why the sudden peak of interest.

Just over 19,000 McClain County voters cast ballots in 2020.

It’ll be interesting to see how many voted this year.

Happy Veterans Day to all the veterans out there.

We appreciate your service to our country, especially those who paid the ultimate price.

Just like a lot of things as you age a lot of things get tougher.

One of those is adjusting to the stinking time change.

Even though springing forward is more of a challenge.

Falling back has been no piece of cake, either.

My body is so out of kilter that I woke up in the middle of the night thinking it was time to get up and made the bed.

Turned out it was like 1:30 a.m.

I had to unmake the bed and crawl back into it.

Luckily for Gracie she had already gone to another room to snooze.
