During an early morning thunderstorm April 24 lightning struck an oil storage tank just south of Purcell at 26536 170th.
Firefighters were called out at 6:11 a.m. and were confronted with multiple tanks on fire at the saltwater disposal site.
Initially, firefighters protected exposed tanks that were not on fire.
Once they were able to get foam established, firemen were able to extinguish the fire using the jump line from Engine 21.
Firefighters were able to clear the scene at 7:51 a.m.
There were no reported injuries.
