The Lexington Lady Bulldogs were in Washington on Wednesday for Regionals with the Lady Warriors and the Blackwell Maroons.

Washington had a 19-12 record and Blackwell had a 14-17 record.

Games started at noon.

“I’m going to put us in the best possible position to win,” head coach Monty Ervin said.

Lexington lost another close one on Monday at Comanche, 5-4. That moved their season record to 10-18.

“We just can’t hold a lead. The girls are still learning the game – situational hitting, the value of a bunt and not striking out. Those are the things that you have to learn,” Ervin said.

With the game tied at 4-4, a Lexington error scored Comanche’s winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Maison Sissney had three hits and two ribbies. Mackenzie Manuel had two hits and Marisa Northrup had one.

The Lady ‘Dawgs had eight strikeouts in the loss.

Last Thursday, Lexington picked up two wins over Crooked Oak, 12-0 and 12-1.

In game one, Lexington collected six hits, two each from Lexie Torres, Manuel, Kiely Givens and Abby Sample. Baylee Rillema had one.

Sample led the team with five ribbies. She had an inside-the-park homerun in the first inning to score three runs and singled in the second to score two.

Hannah Garret fanned seven batters.

Game two was much the same. Lexington had five hits – one each from Sissney, Chloe Becker, Northrup, Rillema and Abi Clifton.

Sissney had two RBIs in the win. Becker, Givens, Northrup and Clifton had one apiece.

Last week, Lexington started their week with an 11-1 loss at Lindsay on Tuesday.

Ervin mentioned that Sissney, Givens and Manuel have stepped up for their team.

“They have really stepped up for us over the last few weeks. They have been a bright spot.”
