It’s going to be a very busy and exciting weekend in Lexington with the annual celebration of 89er’s Day Friday and Saturday, April 18 and 19.
A street dance will be held Friday, April 18, from 5-9 p.m.
There will be street food available Friday from 5-9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The annual parade down Broadway will kick off at 2 p.m. Saturday.
There will be a car show Saturday. Registration begins at 8 a.m. with awards (Best in Show and Top 10) at noon. The cars will line up for the parade at 1:30 p.m.
There will be a cash prize for the top float. The parade will start on Fourth Street.
There will be carnival rides both days.
There will be live entertainment Saturday with the Lexington Marching Band at the Pavilion Stage at 10 a.m., Vall Gladden Bank at 11 a.m. and Bryant Smith at 4 p.m. Lexington Southern Accents will be performing on the basketball court at 3 p.m.
The Heart of Oklahoma Kiwanis Club will have a pancake breakfast Saturday from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the McCown Park Pavilion. Law enforcement officers, fire fighters and EMTs all eat for free.
Several inflatables will be set up for the kids.
New this year will be an escape room at McCown Park. Book your time slot in advance for $15 per player by calling 405-527-2623.
