Lexington opens the 2025 football season in the cozy confines of Floyd West field hosting the Elmore City Badgers.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. for coach Keith Bolles’ Bulldogs.

Bolles said from the scrimmage tape the Badgers look big up front.

“They have a good fullback and their quarterback seems to be able to run,” Bolles said. “We’ll have to keep an eye on that.”

Elmore City runs a lot of two back sets with a tight end.

“But they are not conventional,” the coach said. “They like to off set and do a lot of misdirection and pull people. It’ll be a challenge for our defense.”

The Badgers will base their defense out of a 4-3.

‘The key for us is to be able to control the ball and not turn it over,” Bolles said. “We’ll try to get everyone into playing shape. You can be in shape but it’s different when you get into a game.”

The Bulldogs were in a three-way scrimmage with Wynnewood and Atoka last week.

“It went well,” Bolles said of the scrimmage. “We got what we wanted to see, the things we have to work on. But it was a positive experience for us.”

Bolles said it was a plus for his squad to see two different teams and two different types of offense and two different defenses.

“The down side is our numbers,” the coach continued. “We’ve got a couple of kids hurt so we’re having some people doing extra work. I’m very proud of them.”
