Lex edges Davis in thriller

Posted

Jaci Idlett’s walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh proved to be the game winner in an exciting 15-14 victory over Davis at home last Tuesday.

The RBI was one of four Idlett knocked in the game where she went 3-5.

Maddie Pack, who picked up the victory in the circle, helped her own causes going 3-3 including a home run and matching Idlett’s four RBI mark. She also doubled in the game.

Izzy Pack went 5-5 from her leadoff spot and scored four times. She also had an RBI and a double. Abby Sample had an RBI in a 1-4 outing at the plate and Promise Houck and Leslie Barber both went 2-4 with an RBI apiece.

Lexington, who pounded out 20 hits in the victory, scored five times in the bottom of the first and answered a four-run third by Davis with four of their own in the bottom of the frame.

Davis fought back from a 14-9 deficit pushing across five runs in the top of the seventh. That forced Lexington to come up with the winning run in their half of the inning.

“We jumped out early with a lead and kept scoring every inning except one,” head coach Kayla Stewart said.

“I tell them all the time if you will put up runs every inning and reduce our errors you will be in every game at the end.

“We did a great job of continuing to fight and answer back. I’m proud of their fight in that game,” the coach concluded.

Lexington scored in every inning but one in their dramatic 33-10 victory over McLoud Monday.

McLoud took a 2-0 lead into the second inning but the Lady Bulldogs scored three times in the second and never trailed again pushing across six runs in the third, two in the fourth, seven in the fifth and an astounding 15 runs in the top of the sixth.

Maddie Pack went yard not once but twice including a grand slam and accounted for seven RBIs in the lopsided victory.

Kiely Givens also had a pair of home runs and finished with five RBIs.

Abby Turnpaugh matched that RBI mark in a 4-5 day at the plate.

The Lady Bulldogs got doubles from Houck, Harley Salisbury, Cilee Turner and Turnpaugh. Idlett doubled twice.

Houck was 3-5 on the day with a trio of RBIs. Barber went 2-5 with three RBIs.

Lexington ended the game with 32 hits and hiked their regular season record to 5-15.

The Lady ‘Dawgs were scheduled to play Moore and Choctaw at Choctaw Tuesday.

The Plainview Festival is Thursday and the Dale Festival at FireLake is scheduled for Friday.

Lexington is scheduled to host Lindsay next Monday.
