Lex bests Mangum, 4-2

Lexington topped Mangum 4-2 last Thursday in the Sterling Tournament last weekend thanks to the bat of Cora Vazquez.

She went yard with two runners on base in the bottom of the third inning lifting the Lady Bulldogs to the victory.

They trailed 2-1 heading into the Lexington half of the third frame when Vazquez went to work. She was 2-2 on the day and started the day in the circle. Ryli Harmon came in to relive Vazquez in the second and recorded the save.

Kiely Givens, Baylie Rillema and Abby Sample all had hits in the game as well as Lexington out-hit the Lady Tigers 5-4.

Earlier in the day, Kiefer edged the Lady Bulldogs, 4-3, despite Vazquez going 2-2 with two RBIs in the contest.

Izzy Pack, Abby Turnpaugh, Givens, Rillema, Harmon and Sample all had hits in the game.

Lexington pushed across a run in each of the first three innings and led until Kiefer scored four times in the top of the fourth to snag the lead.

Back in action Friday, the Lady Bulldogs were edged 3-2 by Velma-Alma despite out-hitting the Lady Comets 9-4.

Givens was 2-3 with two RBIs in the game.

Coach Ryan Perry also got hits from Barber, Turnpaugh, Vazquez, Rillema, Madalyn Dunn, Harmon and Sample.

Earlier last week Lexington dropped a home game at the hands of Purcell, 10-2.

Promise Houck, Leslie Barber and Givens all had hits in the game with Barber and Houck both picking up RBIs.

Lexington had red-hot bats Monday when Meeker came to town.

The Lady Bulldogs pounded out 17 hits in a 15-3 run-rule victory over Meeker’s Lady Bulldogs.

Houck and Pack both tripled in the game.

Perry got doubles from Barber, Givens, Harmon, Houck and Vazquez.

Pack went 3-4 with a trio of RBIs. Houck matched her going 3-3 with three RBIs.

Barber and Vazquez were both 2-4 at the plate with both players knocking in two RBIs.

Givens was a perfect 3-3 with two RBIs and Harmon went 2-2 with a pair of RBIs.

Turnpaugh had a hit and an RBI and Sample had a hit.

The win hiked Lexington’s record to 8-15.

Lexington was scheduled to travel to Chandler Tuesday and host Crooked Oak today (Thursday). They are scheduled to host Pauls Valley next Monday.
