Legislation for Walters?

It’s pretty ironic, and at the same time sad, that State Senator Bill Coleman, a Republican from Ponca City, is writing a resolution to amend the Oklahoma Constitution to allow recall elections.

If adopted by the voters, the resolution would authorize recall elections for members of the Legislature or any elected state official.

The ironic part of the proposed resolution is the sad part – State Superintendent Ryan Walters.

His performance as State Superintendent has been debated in both the House and Senate as to whether or not to impeach him.

The shooter in the death of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson remained on the run for five days but he was never a free man.

The “person of interest” and now suspect in the hit-man type murder was never truly free since he was tracked and hunted and would have been for the rest of his life.

Officials know where he came from, Atlanta, but did not know where he went when he left New York City.

Obviously his close friends and family knew who he was after the images of his face were made public.

It was just matter of time that law enforcement, with the help of the public, was going to track him down.

Before the football season kicked off I was talking with Brad Beller and off handidly cracked “well, are you going for a three-peat?”

I was expecting him to kind of laugh it off and say we’ll see or something like that.

Beller, however, turned serious when he looked at me.

He never missed a beat and said matter of factly, “I like this group.”

The coach obviously knew what he was talking about.

You can read more about Beller and his team in this week’s Purcell Register.
