Lady ‘Dawgs have 3-2 record

Spring weather wreaking havoc on schedule

Posted

Last Tuesday the Lady ‘Dawgs picked up a dominating 13-3 win over Blanchard, but dropped a 12-0 loss to Dale.

It was a tale of two games.

“I was told when I got to Lexington that there’s a mind set that these kids can’t compete when they see the lights or with certain names on the jersey. And, that doesn’t fly with me. I’m competitive and we are here to compete. We can play to put ourselves in a position to win at all times. We can play to that level anytime,” head coach Monty Ervin said.

Scheduled games for last week were canceled after Tuesday due to rain, but the Lady ‘Dawgs still got in lots of practice time.

“The girls responded well to our talk and we spent a lot of time working and practicing. They are eager and hungry to learn and work.”

Lexington was set to host 5A #3 Tecumseh and 5A #13 Newcastle.

“We have a tough schedule. It won’t get easier. But, we can compete and put ourselves in a position to win. We’ll see how they respond,” Ervin said.

Blanchard

Lexington jumped out 5-0 after the first inning over Blanchard.

They added four more runs in the third and four in the fourth to get the 13-3 run rule win.

Lexington had 13 hits in the win.

“Allie Hollar had a terrific game. She was 3-3 at the plate and had seven RBIs,” Ervin said.

Kieley Givens was also 3-3 at the plate with two hits. Abby Sample had three hits and Baylee Rillemma had two.

Dale

In a complete turn of events, Lexington had just three hits in a 12-0 loss to Dale.

Mackenzie Manuel, Marissa Northrup and Sample each had one.
