Jones retiring as treasurer

Ending 26-years of public service

Posted

After more than 26 years of serving the citizens of McClain County, Teresa Jones is retiring from her role as county treasurer.

Jones began her career with the treasurer’s office in October 1998 as Deputy Treasurer.

In July 2005, she was honored to take over as county treasurer, a position she has held with great dedication ever since.

A 1976 graduate of Purcell High School, Teresa married Eddy Jones of Washington in 1979.

The couple raised three daughters Jessica, Michele and Julie, while Teresa worked in various roles including Don’s Pharmacy, Walmart, the OSU Extension Office and Small Talk Daycare while raising her family.

Jones described her entry into public service as the start of a new chapter that quickly became a lifelong calling.

Throughout her tenure, she worked alongside many dedicated colleagues and navigated significant challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic with resilience and grace.

As she steps away from public office, Jones says she will deeply miss the daily interactions with McClain County residents, as it has been her privilege to serve as the McClain County Treasurer.

Jones’ last day as treasurer will be June 30. County commissioners will appoint her successor.
