Mr. Stark passed away unexpectedly Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Norman Regional Healthplex.
Born July 15, 1941 in Wanette, Okla., he was the eighth of nine children born to Samuel David Stark and Mildred Fay (Jones) Stark.
He was raised in Asher and attended school there, graduating with the Indians Class of 1960. John answered the call in service to his country and joined the United States Army. After the service, he returned to Oklahoma and started working for his brother at Food Land in Lexington.
By chance, he met a young lady named Sandra Etta McHam. They married on September 15, 1969. Together they made their home in Lexington where they raised their only daughter, Julie.
John made his career at Tinker Air Force Base, and retired in 2001 after 23+ years of dedicated service. He enjoyed working on his farm, including the day-to-day operations, cutting hay and raising cattle. He loved spending his spare time playing cards and dominoes with his friends at the senior center.
His pride and joy were his grandsons, Grady and Gaige. He loved watching them play sports and rarely missed a game. John was a loving dad, papa, brother, uncle and neighbor who will be dearly missed!
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Stark; his parents, Samuel and Mildred Stark; siblings, Sam Stark, Curtis Stark, Doris Fore, Reba Archer, Theo McCroskey, Zella Nance and Martha Johnston.
John is survived by his daughter, Julie Massey and husband, Chris, of Moore; his grandsons,Grady and Gaige; sister, Beulah Borroel and husband, Chuck, of Mission Viejo, Calif.; sister-in-law, Jo Stark of Purcell and a host of many other family and friends.
