Mr. Meyer passed away Monday, May 18, 2026.
Born October 17, 1957 in Norman, Okla., he was the third of four children born to Gerald Dan Meyer and Joetta (Kane) Meyer.
John was raised in Wayne and attended school there, graduating with the Bulldog Class of 1978. He married young, and was blessed with two daughters, Julie and Crystal.
John worked for McClain County as a heavy equipment operator, and later at York for several years, before taking a medical retirement. John faced many health challenges throughout the years, but always managed to see the bright side.
He lived a simple life, worked hard and loved his family fiercely. He was a professional junk collector, and never missed a good garage sale. He loved tinkering on his mower and spent countless hours mowing for others, and just riding around. He will be dearly missed!
He was preceded in death by his mother, Joetta Meyer; father, Gerald Dan Meyer; sister, Joyce Davis and her husband, Larry Davis and a special cousin, James Womack.
John is survived by his daughters, Julie Taliaferro and husband, James Nail, of Wayne and Crystal Meyer of Norman; brothers, Danny Meyer of Rosedale and Ted Meyer and wife, Terrye, of Wayne; his pride and joy, grandchildren, Macie Woody of Norman, Emily Woody of Norman and Paislee Taliaferro of Wayne; several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.
