Jo Ann Seymour (Ware) died peacefully on May 8, 2026, at her residence in Edmond, OK. She was 94 years of age and lived a life of strength, devotion and family.
Jo Ann was raised near Ladessa, Okla., and attended Centralvue High School where she graduated in 1951. After graduating from High School, Jo Ann went on to Cameron University to get an Associate’s Degree before going to Oklahoma A & M where she received her Bachelors of Science degree in Home Economics Education and later in 1976 her Vocational Home Economics Degree.
In April 1957, she married the love of her life, Herman Coy Seymour at the Hill Crest Baptist Church of Stillwater.
Jo Ann began her work career in 1952 in Kincade, KS as a Vocational Home Economics teacher where she stayed until she and Herman were married. Jo Ann followed Herman at his work with the OSU Cooperative Extension Service. She taught Vocational Home Economics for 30 years; in Garfield County, Kiowa County, Roger Mills County and finally Beckham County where they retired to Delhi, OK.
JoAnn’s greatest love was teaching, whether in the public school system, adult craft workshops, or small youth sewing groups. She was an exceptional teacher; she wanted her students to have practical and valuable skills necessary to be successful in life.
Jo Ann was an active women’s Sunday School teacher for over 20 years at First Baptist, Sayre. She spent time reading and studying for the lesson. Her desire was to help each individual to grow their faith in Jesus Christ and to develop a personal relationship with Him.
Jo Ann is preceded in death by Herman Coy Seymour, husband; Rufus & Beatrice Ware, parents; and Pansy Crow, sister.
She is survived by daughters and their husbands, Cynthia Ann and Mike Klumpp and their daughter, Elizabeth Grace and husband, Pierce McLaughlin of Edmond, Okla., and Susan Lynn and Jerry Moffat, their sons, Coy John Pfeiffer and wife, Caitlin, and Conrad James Moffat; grandchildren, Casey Herman and Cohan Charles Pfeiffer, all of Lexington, Okla.; sister, Jean Stamey, Bethany; sisters in-law, Claudine Gilliam of Hobart, Sondra and Jerry Luck of Hollis and Debbie Jackson of Mangum.
A private Graveside Service will be held at Cave Creek Cemetery in Vinson, OK at a later date.
